Nuvoton Technology

Arbel BMCs and server hardware-monitor ICs

Where it fits in an AI server rack

Launched the Arbel NPCM8mnx system-in-package on Oct 13, 2025: a BMC subsystem integrating the fourth-generation Arbel BMC with DDR4, eMMC and NOR flash, for next-generation AI servers and data-center platforms; engineering samples were available at launch. Its NCT7904D server hardware monitor reads up to 12 fan tachometers and 5 temperature channels and drives 4 fan outputs.

What the evidence establishes

AI-rack evidence

Positioning: Nuvoton markets its Arbel BMC SiP for AI servers and its NCT7904D monitor for server fan and thermal control, with no named customer.

An explicit AI-server or AI-rack product, design-in, supply role, program, reference design or partnership, such as a part named for rack-scale AI systems or a product sold for AI data centers. For a rack builder, it means the company’s own AI servers or racks. This does not establish revenue, market share, volumes or future sourcing.

How we knowPositioning A dedicated AI-server or AI-data-center product or reference design, with no named customer. Marketed for AI racks; not a disclosed design win.

Keep in perspective

No AI-server customer is named for Arbel, and the SiP was sampling at launch. The fan-control link is catalog-level: no AI-rack design-in is documented.

Diversified business exposure. This describes the breadth or role of the business; it is not an investment rating. An AI-server product, design-in or partnership does not by itself establish material AI-rack revenue, market share, or future returns.

Connections to the assembly

These links explain the technology relationship. The model is illustrative and does not represent an actual manufacturer’s bill of materials.

Baseboard management controller

A small always-on chip that monitors power, temperature and fans, updates firmware and lets operators reach the tray out of band, often with a hardware root of trust.

Scope of the company links: Lenovo’s GB300 NVL72 product guide names an ASPEED AST2600 as the compute tray’s BMC, and an NVIDIA engineer’s QEMU model of the GB200 NVL72 BMC (July 3, 2025) is built on the same chip; ASPEED targets its 12 nm AST2700 at high-power AI servers. Nuvoton markets its Arbel NPCM8mnx BMC for AI servers with no named customer. BMC share figures (often 70–80% for ASPEED) are broker estimates, not company disclosures. Hyperscalers’ in-house root-of-trust chips are not mapped.

Thermal sensors & fan control

Temperature sensors and fan controllers that read the heat at each zone and set fan speeds, trading noise and power against temperature.

Scope of the company links: Texas Instruments markets the TMP464 remote temperature sensor for monitoring GPUs and other processors in servers and the AMC6821 PWM fan controller for network servers, and Nuvoton markets server hardware-monitor ICs beside its BMCs; neither names a rack design-in. In NVL72-class trays, fan control is usually run by the baseboard management controller (listed under CPUs, memory & storage). Analog Devices’ and Microchip’s fan-controller pages could not be checked in our review, so they are not mapped.
