COMPANY RESEARCH / VPG

Vishay Precision Group

Force transducers, load cells & strain measurement

Where it fits in the robot

VPG explicitly addresses humanoids with precision strain gauges, force/torque transducers, and miniature load cells for actuator feedback and contact measurement.

What the evidence establishes

Humanoid evidence

VPG explicitly maps strain gauges and force/torque transducers to humanoid actuator feedback. VPG and Vishay Intertechnology are separate companies.

An explicit humanoid product, development program, application, or partnership. This does not establish revenue, market share, or production volumes.

Keep in perspective

VPG is a separate listed company from Vishay Intertechnology. Robotics is one of several precision-sensing markets.

Specialist business exposure. This describes the breadth or role of the business; it is not an investment rating. A robotics product or development announcement does not by itself establish material humanoid revenue, market share, or future returns.

Connections to the assembly

These links explain the technology relationship. The model is illustrative and does not represent an actual manufacturer’s bill of materials.

Tool-side mounting flange

The top interface transfers forces from a hand or foot into the sensing body.

Scope of the company links: Force/torque transducer integrators; the mounting interface belongs to the complete sensor, not a separately verified flange supply business.

Elastic sensing flexure

Small, controlled deformation under load produces a measurable strain. Geometry separates force and torque components.

Scope of the company links: Complete force/torque sensors use a sensing body. Internal flexure designs vary and are not established by this illustrative geometry.

Strain-gauge bridges

Bonded gauges convert the flexure’s tiny deformation into resistance changes. The bridges feed precision measurement electronics.

Scope of the company links: VPG’s Micro-Measurements business supplies strain gauges. Miniature packaged force sensors and magnetic position ICs are different technologies.

Base & electrical connector

A fixed mount anchors the sensor; the connector carries power and measurement data to the robot.

Scope of the company links: Sensor integrators provide mounting bodies; TE and Amphenol provide relevant electrical interfaces. Their roles differ.
