Front-lit LCoS microdisplays and WiseEye sensing

Where it fits in smart glasses

Front-lit color-sequential LCoS microdisplays (HX7319FL, 720×720) and 0.34 cc projector modules marketed for AR glasses, demoed with AUO and Vuzix waveguides (CES 2026); WiseEye ultralow-power AI sensing in a smart-glasses product launched by an unnamed "leading global brand" (Q2 2026 results).

What the evidence establishes

Smart-glasses evidence

Marketed for smart glasses; no named customer. Himax showed its HX7319FL LCoS module for AR glasses with AUO and Vuzix waveguides at CES 2026.

An explicit smart-glasses product, design-in, supply role, program, application page or partnership, including wrist or ring input sold with glasses. For a device maker, it means the company’s own glasses, not a supplier relationship. This does not establish revenue, market share, volumes or future sourcing.

Keep in perspective

No named shipping LCoS customer; Himax says the module is being evaluated. The WiseEye glasses customer and its function are undisclosed, so the cameras link is sector-level only.

Specialist business exposure. This describes the breadth or role of the business; it is not an investment rating. A smart-glasses product, design-in or partnership does not by itself establish material glasses revenue, market share, or future returns.

Connections to the assembly

These links explain the technology relationship. The model is illustrative and does not represent an actual manufacturer’s bill of materials.

RGB LED illumination

Red, green and blue LEDs flash in sequence while the panel shows each color field (field-sequential color). Teardowns disagree on how many LEDs the Meta Ray-Ban Display engine uses, so this is a schematic RGB source.

Scope of the company links: Himax’s front-lit LCoS modules integrate their own illumination. The LED-die supplier in shipping engines is not identified. KGOnTech attributes the Meta Ray-Ban Display engine to Goertek (not confirmed by Meta or Goertek), but Goertek’s optics business sits in Goertek Optical, a non-consolidated associate since Dec 2025, so Goertek is not mapped. ams OSRAM’s glasses LEDs are infrared eye-tracking parts and are not mapped here.

LCoS microdisplay

Liquid crystal on a CMOS backplane modulates each pixel’s polarization. Teardowns identify an OmniVision LCoS panel in Meta Ray-Ban Display; OmniVision’s catalog OP03011 is 648 × 648 pixels at 3.8 µm with a MIPI-DSI input.

Scope of the company links: OmniVision’s LCoS is teardown-identified in Meta Ray-Ban Display (TechInsights; KGOnTech read OP03010 on the flex). Himax markets front-lit LCoS (HX7319FL) for AR glasses with no named shipping win; Kopin markets FLCoS microdisplays for head-mounted displays and defense. Snap Specs use a proprietary LCoS display system with an unnamed panel supplier. Micro-OLED (Sony, BOE, SeeYA) and microLED (JBD, which is private) are different panel types, listed at sector level.

Projection lens & housing

A short lens group collimates the image, so each pixel becomes a ray angle the waveguide can carry. The housing keeps the optics aligned; any shift moves the image.

Scope of the company links: Projection optics ship inside a light engine: Sunny reports AR optical engines, and Himax sells a complete 0.34 cc LCoS projector module (its collimator was co-developed with Giga-Image Technology, not mapped). Standalone lens-element supply is not established.
