Where it fits in smart glasses
High-refractive-index glass substrates (RI 1.70-2.10) for AR/MR glasses waveguides; CES 2025 Innovation Award.
What the evidence establishes
Upstream enablerUpstream enabler: AGC markets high-refractive-index glass (1.70-2.10) for AR/MR glasses waveguides; no named customer.
Materials, substrates, equipment or foundry capacity behind glasses components. This is not a component supplier or an established smart-glasses revenue stream.

Keep in perspective
Customer unnamed; AR substrates are a small part of a large glass and chemicals group.
Diversified business exposure. This describes the breadth or role of the business; it is not an investment rating. A smart-glasses product, design-in or partnership does not by itself establish material glasses revenue, market share, or future returns.
Connections to the assembly
These links explain the technology relationship. The model is illustrative and does not represent an actual manufacturer’s bill of materials.
High-index waveguide plate
Light bounces along the plate by total internal reflection. A higher index allows a wider field of view: optical glass is about 1.8-2.0, silicon carbide about 2.6-2.7.
Scope of the company links: Upstream wafer suppliers that market high-index glass, polymer or SiC for AR waveguides. SICC reports initial AR/VR use with unnamed optics customers, still in customer validation; none names a shipping glasses program. The reflective waveguide glass in Meta Ray-Ban Display is reportedly SCHOTT’s (private).
